Rebecca King-CrewAmerican actor Thomas William Selleck. His first role was the private investigator Thomas Magnum in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) during which time he was nominated for five times for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in the Drama Series. He won the award in 1985. In the TV series Blue Bloods, Selleck has played Frank Reagan, New York City Police Commissioner. From 2005 onward, he has portrayed troubled small-town police chief Jesse Stone in nine television films inspired by the Robert B. Parker novels.In films, Selleck has played bachelor architect Peter Mitchell in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). Since Magnum, P.I., Selleck has been in more than 50 roles on TV and film, including films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Baseball and Lassiter. He was the recurring television character playing Monica Geller's love-interests Dr. Richard Burke and Lance White on Friends. Additionally as A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. He also had a lead part in the western film The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran and a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) and an endorser for advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
