Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media also a speaker who is Canadian. Feminist Frequency is a web site that hosts videos and commentaries analysing portrayals gender roles in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are depicted in pop culture. In addition, she works to highlight the problems surrounding the targeted and sexist assaults on women and others of minority groups in the online world, she is dedicated to breaking down the stigmas and stereotypes in the pop culture. Sarkeesian is a graduate in political and social thinking at York University. As a public speaker, she is well-known and has given talks at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was fascinated by gender issues and feminism at a young time. In 2009, when she was continuing to study at the university level she launched her Feminist Frequency site. As of 2009, this determined young woman was targeted on the internet for her website featuring a series about gender and videogames. She was not deterred from the attack, and in fact it only reinforced her desire to become feminist and media critic. To honor the numerous contributions she has made to feministism, she's awarded numerous prizes.
